Open-Co is an IT company based in the heart of Valpolicella, specializing in the design, development, and implementation of LIMS software and applications for the management of testing laboratories, quality systems, and production control.
Today, the solutions we develop and offer rank among the leading quality control software applications on the Italian and international markets, thanks to the know-how gained over more than 20 years of experience, ongoing dialogue with our clients, and close attention to market needs. Our software is currently used by over 400 companies, for a total of more than 4,200 workstations across various industrial and commercial sectors.
The origins of Open-Co and ProLab.Q:
Massimo Antonelli, after completing his engineering studies, gaining international experience in the USA, and working on numerous IT projects as a PM, turned to the world of certifications (ISO 9000 - Vision 2000) as an independent consultant. His professional path was guided by his vocation: to develop a mathematical/conceptual model to describe industrial and quality control processes.
After a meticulous study lasting about three years, and practical application across a wide range of industrial sectors — with particular focus on the agri-food, wine, and chemical sectors — he invented the IQF (Integrated Quality Framework) model.
This model was applied for the first time in 2004, leading to the creation of ProLab.Q, the LIMS software specifically designed for quality control laboratories. At the same time, Massimo founded Open-Co, which within a few years became a leader in Italy in the LIMS field and in process and quality control for the manufacturing and agri-food sectors. Today, Open-Co serves more than 400 clients, both in Italy and abroad.
A happy husband and father of three, he is passionate about analog electronics and dynamic modeling, and has a deep interest in nature, with a particular love for the mountains and water sports.
